Aftercare Branding Aftercare

HOW YOUR BRANDING HEALS IS UP TO YOU!!
Congratulations. You’ve just received a body branding by a trained professional who cleaned and disinfected the area branded and used sterile branding instruments. Now it is up to you to take appropriate care of your new branding.

It is a proven fact that chemicals of any kind will upset the balance within your newly forming cells and create a condition in which your branding will heal tremendously slower. Surprisingly this is what you want. The slower that you heal, the more scar tissue you will build and the more pronounced your branding will be.

DO NOT use ANY product that promotes tissue growth including but not limited to: Saline, Polysporin, Aloe Vera, Vitamin A & D ointment, Vitamin E, or any Lotions Ointments or Creams that will sooth or promote the healing of the cauterized area.
PRODUCTS YOU CAN USE:
Hydrogen Peroxide
Antibacterial Soap
Clean Gauze & Adhesive Tape
Clean Wash Cloth
* Keep the branding covered with gauze when it is an open wound (if the scabs crack and leak, or when it’s freshly picked)
HOW TO CLEAN YOUR BRANDING:
ALWAYS WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE TOUCHING YOUR BODY BRANDING
Don’t do anything for the first few days except wash the area with antibacterial soap and rinse with water. Once the scabs have raised up from the body (4-8 days) and you can get underneath them, they are ready to be picked. First wash with Antibacterial soap, rinse with water and pat dry. Then take your clean hands and carefully pick off the scabs from your body. Then apply Hydrogen Peroxide to a clean Wash Cloth and scrub at the open wound. This process will cause pain, but it is necessary to disturb the healing process with the chemical, and the friction of the cloth. When your branding is clean, rinse with some clean water and cover immediately with clean Gauze.
Always cover your branding after you pick it! This will prevent an infection. After your branding has scabbed over, you can remove the bandage, and let it breathe.

SOME TIPS WE HAVE LEARNED OVER THE YEARS:
BACTERIA: Bacteria is the root cause for infection, so avoid it whenever possible. Dirty hands, dirty clothing, dirty bedding, oceans, lakes, rivers, pools, hot tubs, boys, girls and animals are just a few of the many things you should avoid.

LEAKAGE: Your body will leak lymph when the scabs get dry and crack. This is normal, and you should have your branding covered during the leaking process. (hint: keep some gauze with you, cause you never know when it will leak!)

FINGERNAILS: Make sure when you wash your hands you, scrub under your fingernails. A lot of bacteria grows there and will cause an infection in your new branding.

KELOIDS: Ideally you would like your branding to keloid. This is when the body builds more scar tissue than it needs and the scar is raised up off the body. Remember that everyone is different, and some people wont scar as much as others.
