Cutting

Cutting is a form of scarification which involves cutting the skin and marking the body in patterns or designs. Historically cutting has been done for hundreds of years in African tribes; these marks would be used to show status within the tribe including rank, marital status, and age. Markings would also be made for aesthetic reasons. In other cultures cutting was used as a spiritual release or in blood letting rituals. Cutting has now found its way into modern times mainly for aesthetic purposes; men and women from all backgrounds are getting cuttings and are marking their bodies.

Using a sterilized single use scalpel, single lines are cut into the skin creating your design. Care must be taken to provide consistency in the depth of the lines. It takes a steady hand and a vast knowledge in anatomy and healing techniques for cuttings to heal evenly.
