Piercing

Body modification has been evident all over the world for thousands of years, be it tattooing, branding, scarification. Body piercing has been evident in tribal cultures throughout the world, from New Guinea, the Philippines, India, Africa, and Asia to Alaska. People have, from the dawn of history to the present day, succumbed to the piercing urge. The urge has taken many forms, for many it springs from a desire for personal adornment. For others it has played an important role in rites of passage, marking the milestones in people’s lives. Universally, these people are responding to that inner voice that says, “Decorate you body”! It doesn’t matter why a piercing is done; it is still a profound and rewarding experience.

I perform most of my piercings freehand, as opposed to using clamps and other tools. I feel that there is more contact between myself and the piercee, making the experience more personal and not so mechanical. I also find the freehand piercing technique much easier to feel and judge the piercing, and clients are not intimidated by the “big scary clamp”.
