Piercing Piercing Experiences Facial & Oral Lip Piercing
As large portions of the people here have already said, this experience will be just like the rest. Nothing entirely unusual or exciting happened. It was just a regular lip piercing.
It all began a few months ago when I decided that this was to be my next piercings. I currently have 20 piercings (including lip) and have been pierced a total of 32 times. The whole experience itself wasn't really new, yet it was different than the rest. I spent many months persuading my parents to approve this piercing. My dad's original response was, "can't you just get your nose pierced instead?" My mom's was, "I don't like it. I hate how people always play with them and I'll end up drawing a line through your face because of your eyebrow." They finally gave and reluctantly nodded after showing them a 97% average in math class, along with various other 90s in various other classes.
I called in to Bee-Cool to make sure that Rob was in and see if they had time for me that particular day. I scheduled myself in for 4:00pm. I pretty much had to leave the house immediately to get there on time. The whole way driving there I was stuck behind a student driver in a semi so I was a tad late, rather frustrated, yet relieves when I made it to the shop.
I walked up and greeted Rob who was standing outside the door having a cigarette. He smiled then is like "what are you doing here?" I responded telling him that I was getting my lip pierced. His smile instantly grew as he excitedly said, "you're the one getting your lip pierced? That's you? Cool!" He then talked about how he still wanted a piece of my hair and he was determined to cut it off this day. I have bright purple hair ever since I met Rob a year ago he's loved it.
I walked into the store, filled out the usual forms (you know, how I won't sue if I die, I didn't take any blood thinners recently, and I ate not long ago). I then sat down on the couch in the back of store and chuckled as Rob was negotiating with another guy about a triple nipple piercing (ouch!). They spent a good 10 minutes talking about that. Rob then led me into the back room.
I sat down in the 'dentist-like chair'. I specified that I wanted the right side of my lip pierced. Rob had me rinse my mouth out with mouthwash for 30 seconds as he brought out all the stuff he was going to need for the procedure (the clamps, ring, sterile stuff, etc.). After I rinsed out my mouth Rob marked the spot on my lip, rubbed it off, then marked it again. He then held up a mirror to which I approved of the spot. Rob joked around a little bit about all the tools he needed for the piercing and how I knew it was 'something major' when he brought out the clamps.
I talked to Rob for a moment while he was preparing everything and I was calming my nerves down a little bit. He had told me not long before that this was going to be the most painful piercing I have so far and probably ache. Rob cleaned my lip then clamped it. He then lined up the needle to the marking and told me to tell him when I felt it. I slightly flinched as I felt it puncture the first layer of skin and he responded with, "ah I guess right now."
The needle was now just hanging there through my lip and he told me to keep my mouth open as he was getting the CBR ready. He did the jewelry transfer and asked me how I felt. I was surprised by how little it hurt compared to the stories he was telling me. I think he just tells me all these horror stories about whatever I'm going to get pierced prior to getting it done so that I'm expecting horrible pain and feel practically nothing. Next, Rob explained to me all the after care (he changed after care procedures from when I was pierced there last) .I walked out with a smile on my face and paid for my new piece of metal.
I ended up getting a 14 gauge 3/8 SSS CBR with a black bead. For after care I was told to clean the outside of the piercing with natural lavender soap followed by saline solution twice a day. To clean the inside of the piercing I am supposed to use tea tree oil mouthwash twice a day. Then every time I eat, smoke, or pretty much put anything in my mouth I have to rinse it out with salt water (1/4 tsp. or sea salt per 8oz of water). Apparently chamomile tea also helps which is a bonus since I drink it every morning anyway.
I was pierced a week ago and so far everything is going good. There was a little bit of swelling when I'd eat 'difficult' foods for a few days after getting it done. Smiling and laughing was a tad painful for about the first 4 days but all is well now. All in all I'm very happy with the results.
